Established in 1989, Beijing Railway Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Group Co. Ltd. (BJTDS for short) has now developed into a national high-tech enterprise, national innovative pilot enterprise and a key member of the China Torch Program.

We have been certificated for the ISO9001 Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, and Occupational Health & Safety Management System. We hold qualification certificates for U.S. Software Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), software enterprise, information systems integration & services, engineering construction & installation, security engineering, architecture engineering, professional contracting of mechanical & electrical equipment installation, safe production license and the safety equipment production enterprises for railway transportation etc. We have been appointed as the Technology Center of Beijing Enterprises, A Level Tax-paying Credit Company, Patent Demonstration Enterprise, as well as one of the first Post-doctoral Research Centers in Beijing.

Through 3-decade development, we have formed a strong R&D team comprised of professors, PhDs, masters, and engineers etc. We have developed and formulated 4 railway industrial standards, and independently developed more than 500 categories of products, including special equipments for high-speed EMU trains, locomotives, vehicles, urban rail transits, environmental protection & energy saving products, electronics and information engineering products, as well as the EMU & locomotive accessories such as high voltage transformers, current transformers, insulators etc.

Among these products, 136 items have obtained International Invention Patents, National Invention Patents, and National Utility Model Patents, 2 items have been selected into the National Torch Program and Beijing Torch Program, 60 items have won the National Invention Awards, Science & Technology Achievement Awards of Beijing and China Ministry of Raiways, 25 items have passed the technical review of Beijing Municipal Government and China Ministry of Railways. Our products are wildly used all over China.and overseas, and have gained wide approval and high reputation among our customers including all the national railway bureaus, inspection & repair depots for high-speed EMU trains and locomotives, CRRC, and Mekka Metro of Saudi Arabian etc.

The awards we won in recent years include the Science & Technology Award (2nd prize) of China Ministry of Railways and the first (set) of major technical equipment demonstration projects of Beijing in 2011, Beijing Science & Technology Award (3rd prize) in 2012, Science & Technology Award (1st prize) granted by China Railway Construction Corporation in 2013, Science & Technology Progress Award (1st prize) of Hubei Province in 2014. [Equipment Highlights]

1. Compatible with 4 types of High-speed EMU Trains (CRH1, CRH2, CRH3, CRH5).

2. The supporting heads can move ±25mm with loads, a world-initiative function which solved the difficulty of pin-hole-alignment in the bogie and car body connecting process.

3. Elastic wheels, which can be compressed in bearing state to enable the base plate contact the ground to prevent wheels from being crushed.

4. It can automatically adjust the supporting head positions in three-dimension according to the lifting point positions and parking errors.

5. The synchronous lifting process is automatically controlled by the PLC network control system, with the synchronization error for the whole 16-units high-speed EMU train being within ±1mm.

It passed the technical review of China Ministry of Railways on 14th April 2009.

The Test Bed for Entire HX High-power AC Drive Locomotive (Test Bed for Entire Locomotives for short) can replace and is superior to the traditional locomotive-running-test on main lines, which has important implications for improving the locomotive repair quality, use efficiency and railway transportation capacity. Thus its application brings good economic and social benefits. The Test Bed for Entire Locomotives adopts advanced technologies including mechanical & electrical synchronization, electric transformation & distribution, direct torque control and computer network control etc. It has advantages of large traction power, wide speed range, high control precision and good compatibility.

It passed the technical review of China Ministry of Railways on 14th October 2008.

The system consists of 8 major units: PLC network control, computer control & display, access control, signal guidance, safety warning, video monitoring, isolator switch control, ground connection control. It's used for the safety guidance and monitoring in the EMU maintenance and moving. By adopting technologies including electric interlocking and etc, it can ensure the safety in the power on / off operation for the contact line, as well as protect and monitor the personnel operating on vehicle roof and in ditch. It can effectively prevent the accidents caused by negligence, mental weariness, ineffective communication etc., and thus ensures the safety of both personnel and equipments.

It passed the technical review of China Ministry of Railways in February 2007.

Lateral Displacement Overhead Contact Line

It has obtained 1 national utility model patent.

  1. It ensures the personnel & equipment safety in the power on/off operation for the 25KV high voltage contact line in the depot.
  2. The contact line is lateral displaceable rather than fixed, which makes room for the hoisting works.
  3. The equipment state detection is designed with redundancy to ensure the reliability.
  4. The isolator switch and crane are incorporated into the interlocking control to ensure the personnel & equipment safety.
  5. The local and remote control functions are interlocked through PLC network control.

The Safety Interlocking Monitoring System uses PLC network control system as the core and takes full advantage of variety of detection methods, computer logic processing and electrical interlock control. Integrated Online Detection System for High-speed EMU Trains, Vehicles & Locomotives

[Main Features]

  1. All-round online dynamic detection for wheelset, running gear, pantograph and vehicle roof.
  2. The laser displacement sensing technology is adopted to ensure the precise detection of wheelset profile dimension for the vehicles with speed below 120km/h.
  3. Intelligent installation platform ensures the sensor position arrangement invariant, which makes it suitable for both monolithic track bed and ballasted track bed.
  4. The system adopts the vibration & impulse measurement technology, which can realize the non-contact quantitative inspection of the wheelset tread defects.
  5. The synchronous follow-up technology is firstly adopted in the passing-type wheelset deep flaw detection system, which can significantly reduce the number of sensors, eliminate the couplant between ultrasonic sensor and wheel, and improve the stability of the equipment.
  6. The vision measurement techniques have been used for the automatical measurement of the thickness of brake shoes and brake discs.
  7. The laser techniques have been adopted in the foreign objects detection for vehicle roof and bottom, which has advantages of high accuracy and immunity to environment influence.
  8. Expert diagnosis system has transformed the alarm mode from after-alarming to prior-warning, and the maintenance mode from periodical maintenance to state-based maintenance.

Integrated Online Detection System for High-speed EMU Trains, Vehicles & Locomotives

Science & Technology Daily:

The Integrated Online Detection System for High-speed EMU Trains, Vehicles & Locomotives, which is jointly developed by Beijing Railway Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd and Electric Locomotive Depot of Beijing Railway Bureau, has passed the technical review. The system can completely replace the manual detection and subvert the existing detection technology for the running gear, pantograph and high voltage equipment of locomotives, EMU trains and vehicles.

Comments of the technical review group led by Professor Wu Su of Tsinghua University:

The system can realize the allround dynamic detection for wheelset, running gear, pantograph and key components on vehicle roof for the vehicles with speed below 120km/h. The data can be shared through network and preprocessed. The system is rational in structure, advance in technology, and has reached the world’s leading level. The system, which realizes the great-leap-forward from after-alarming to priorwarning, provides powerful technical support for the state-based maintenance and a strong safeguard for the safe operation of locomotives, EMU trains and vehicles.

The independently developed system has multiple breakthrough innovations, such as using special material to realize the coupling of ultrasonic sensor and wheel tread, firstly adopting the synchronous follow-up technology in wheelset flaw detection, the laser displacement sensing technology which ensures the precise detection of wheelset profile dimension, the vibration & impulse measurement technology for the non-contact quantitative inspection of tread defects, the laser techniques for the foreign objects detection, etc. The system can also provide precise detection data online. Its usage strengthens the safety foundation of the vehicle operation.

Novelty Assessment Report issued by China Academy of Railway Sciences:

In the current domestic and foreign retrieval range, there is no report about the integrated online detection system with the characteristics mentioned above for locomotives, EMU trains and vehicles.
